Thank you for visiting our web site.
John Heyl bought and sold fine, old, used 78s, 45s, 33s and 16 rpm records for many years.   He also
constructed models of vintage military aircraft from World War I and II.
Here are just a few labels that can be found in John's stacks, all carefully arranged by genre and recording artist:
Needless to say, there is a lot of great "wax", or should I say "Vinyl"? Actually the older discs are mostly "Bakelite" which I think is a form of plastic, but John can tell me. John focuses on very collectable 10 inch discs (also known as platters), a few of which are single sided recordings. He also has some nice old picture discs and some of the colored vinyl albums. I don't believe that he carries any cylinders, wire or tape recordings, nor does he sell Gramophones, Victrolas, or other hand-crank players yet. A few items from John's stock are listed on line Please contact us at the e-mail address below with your requests for further information.
John's Records is open by appointment, or by chance during sunny, warmer days (say 45 degrees and above). The shop is located with Eyes of the Owl - UsedBooks near downtown Wolfeboro, N.H. You can bet that you will hear some of the best music in town while you are browsing.
John's Records is a longtime participant in the brochure titled "Antiquing East of Lake Winnipesaukee." John still drops in during warmer days in the summer and early fall. The shop is often open when John is not there, tended by the owner of the bookstore: Wally.
We recently received a lovely note from Pauline who was looking for a birthday present for her sister who had bought a Victrola. Thank you for the time you spent on Saturday to go through records for my sister-in-law. I had a great time looking through the tracks and so much fun hearing them! I really appreciate the attention.   I hope that all goes well for you, and my best to John - I'm sorry I missed him, as I enjoy his collection!
Wally was a disc jockey at WUNH radio starting back in 1989, with a real love for the oldtime blues and jazz forms, especially Dixieland. Well, when he met John, the conversation lasted for hours and he left the old record shop location (formerly Touchmark Antiques) on South Main Street, in South Wolfeboro with a heap of wonderful tunes. So when John needed to close due to high overhead, Wally sensed an opportunity to learn more about the great musicians from the decades of the 1900s: 1910s, 1920s, 1930s, 1940s and 1950's. The rest (as they say) is history.
